NCplates started as a seller on eBay in 2000 selling license plates to support a hobby of collecting license plates while working full-time as a Parts Manager of a local Volvo/VW dealership. The NCplates website was built in 2005 to offer license plates directly to the public as well as to help identify license plates of North Carolina.
In 2012, Antique Automobilia was started as a full-time business dealing in rare and hard to find auto parts and collectibles. With a diverse inventory, the NCplates marketplace on eCrater was built in 2015 as the one place to find offerings from both the Antique Automobilia and NCplates websites. 2017 has brought changes with the forming of divisions within the Antique Automobilia company. The auto parts division, NC Classic Parts has its own store on eCrater while the NCplates marketplace continues to carry products from the remaining divisions- NCplates, NCcollectables, and Rat Rod Restorations.
